Post Doc Research Assistant

Job Summary

The candidate is expected to engage in research design and execution of projects related to the NSF ASPIRE (Advancing Sustainability through Powered Infrastructure for Roadway Electrification) Engineering Research Center focused on, but not limited to, acquisition of transdisciplinary engineering, systems thinking, and diversity, equity, and inclusion competencies by university faculty, pre-college teachers, and graduate and undergraduate students. The candidate will engage with partner institutions to establish, conduct, and evaluate teacher and student development programming. It is expected that the candidate will have important oversight responsibilities for graduate and undergraduate students. The position is 40 hours per week with a possible duration of three years, contingent upon successful performance each year. Application review begins immediately, with a flexible intended start date between now and August 2022.

Core Competencies

  • Excellent analytical skills, preferably with experience of statistical and qualitative data tools, mixed methods, and system of systems approaches.
  • Experience with routine software programs such as word processing, spreadsheets, statistical analysis, and other relevant programs.
  • Strong organizational, writing and oral communication skills, particularly as related to conducting research, professional publication, and sponsored grant development.
  • Ability to work independently and participate in teams with diverse individuals. Commitment to social justice and supporting an inclusive and diverse work environment.
  • Professional working proficiency in Spanish is a plus.


Qualified individuals should have a Ph.D. in engineering education, education, program evaluation and assessment, policy, workforce development, or a related field, and should have an interest in the general operation of the transportation sector or transportation systems, as well as with various aspects of advanced vehicle technologies.
