Pre-Award Specialist

Job Summary

Work directly with faculty and staff from assigned areas in sponsored program proposal development that includes interpretation and compliance with sponsor and university guidelines, budget development and review, collaboration with other departments and institutions and review of completed proposal in preparation for submission.


This position could be filled at multiple levels (P1 or P2). The hiring manager will determine the job level based on the skills, experience, and qualifications of the selected candidate.



  • Bachelor’s degree
  • One year of experience in research administration, business administration, accounting, or related experience
  • Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required experience
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and implement University policies and procedures
  • Excellent communication, planning, problem-solving, analytical, project management and customer service skills
  • Must be able to manage a consistent workload in a deadline driven environment
  • Ability to build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels
  • Must possess a learning orientation to changing technology impacting business processes
  • Personal computer and related software skills, e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, database, data inquiry, Internet, etc.
  • Must be able to navigate across campus for frequent meetings



  • Degree in Business, Management or related field of study
  • Business Services or Sponsored Program Services experience
