Pre-College & Undergraduate Program Administrator

Job Summary

The Pre-College & Undergrad Program Admin will lead the administrative endeavors associated with K-12 and undergraduate programs for Minority Engineering Programs. Develop, oversee, and engage in activities focused on K-12 and undergraduate students within the College of Engineering and community engagement.

Who We Are:

The Minority Engineering Program at Purdue University was initiated in 1974 as one of several initiatives to improve diversity and inclusion in the College of Engineering, Purdue's Minority Engineering Program is committed to engineering research and knowledge sharing with the international community through peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.

 

Although we strive to attract students from historically underrepresented groups, namely African American, Hispanic American, and Native American; our programs are open to all. MEP has been the key to Purdue's successful graduation of more than 3,000 engineering underrepresented minority students to date. It is because of this success that other colleges and universities across the country have adopted Purdue's Minority Engineering Program model. https://www.purdue.edu/mep/

What We Are Looking For:

 

Education and Experience:

 

Qualified candidates will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering education, or related field
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in program development and administration for K-12 outreach, undergraduate recruitment, teaching, and retention initiatives in STEM fields
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered

 

Skills needed:

  • Knowledge of engineering curriculum and the engineering profession
  • Knowledge and ability to be successfully published
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to work effectively with a diverse group of pre-college and college students, alumni, administrators, faculty, and staff
  • Problem-solving, data visualization techniques, Microsoft excel/pivot tables proficiency, organization, time management, creativity, and professionalism skills
  • Must be highly motivated, self-initiating and a team player
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and make decisions while under pressure from students, faculty, corporate sponsors, and parents

 

What is helpful:

  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience in teaching, customer relations/service and office management
  • Experience in research protocol and data driven initiatives to serve students from historically underrepresented groups in the engineering field
