Job Summary

The Office of Summer and Winter Programs is an innovative department focused on program initiatives, collaboration, and course management that assists students with college access, retention, and success.

 

The Pre-college Outreach Coordinator serves on a team whose primary focus is coordinating outreach and programming efforts aimed at delivering high-quality, pre-college experiences that prepare students to thrive as Boilermakers. Primary responsibilities include high school visits and outreach, building relationships with prospective students and families, high school partners, community-based organizations, and campus partners. The Outreach Coordinator needs to be an engaging and clear communicator with the ability to provide course instruction, academic coaching, and share knowledge of campus resources and supportive programming, and program coordination. The Outreach Coordinator will be knowledgeable of additional programs offered by the Office of Summer and Winter programs.

 

Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently with limited supervision are imperative for this position.  This position assists with the development and implementation of a comprehensive recruitment and yield strategy. A portion of the work consists of reviewing applications for admission to Summer College for High School Students, discerning important information from the application file, putting the information into context, and swiftly and confidently making and justifying difficult decisions.

What We're Looking For:

Education and Experience
Qualified candidates will need:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Two (2) years of experience in K-12 or higher education, admissions, counseling, advising, teaching, coaching, event planning, or a related field.

 

Skills:

  • Reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evening and weekend hours. 
  • Be energetic, outgoing, creative, and professional; and possess a positive attitude.
  • Maintain a high level of organization and prioritization to ensure timely, efficient, and effective work.
  • Maintain accuracy and attention to detail while dealing with frequent interruptions.
  • Exhibit excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to interact with various constituents with unique needs (students, supervisees, colleagues, campus and community partners, and parents), as well as proficiency in computer technology.
  • Must be able to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Will regularly utilize Excel, Word, Access, Slate CRM, and COGNOS software.
  • Demonstrate experience working in a fast-paced environment and flexibility with change.
  • Have the competency to analyze, interpret, apply, and follow policies and procedures during emergency situations.
  • Have the capacity to always represent the University and program with tact and diplomacy.
  • Evidence of commitment to equity and maximizing all students’ potential.

 

Nice to Have: 

  • Master's degree

The anticipated annual salary range for this position is in the mid-to-upper $ 40,000s. The final salary offer will be determined based on various factors, including internal equity, available budget, and relevant experience.
