Production Assistant - Student Service

Job Summary

Student workers in this role will be critical to the day-to-day production of accessible instructional materials.  The Usable Materials Center will work with course instructors to not only train them to learn how to make their materials accessible through proper design, but also to convert materials for those instructors who do not want to participate in hands-on training.  Student workers will be trained in the details of accessibility including the use of formatting, headers, and conversion of inaccessible materials to formats that are accessible.

 

Responsibilities of Position:

  • Following a predetermined workflow, convert inaccessible instructional materials (WORD documents, PDF files, PPT slides) provided by faculty to usable formats in a timely manner for disabled students.
  • Seek guidance from the UMC Coordinator when they have unique requests or questions about next steps.
  • Work as a team member supporting the overall mission of the UMC.
  • Willing to learn new skills that are highly desirable by employers seeking to hire college graduates.
  • Maintain accurate records on individual job orders.
  • Research and learn about compatibility and technology across platforms.
  • Willing to research unique aspects of accessibility and provide their findings to others in the UMC.
  • Be reliable.
  • Other duties as assigned.
