Professional Development Program Administrator
Job Summary
The Professional Development Program Administrator plays a vital role in enhancing the educational experience for graduate students and postdocs by developing and managing dynamic professional development offerings. This role encompasses a range of responsibilities, from designing semesterly workshop schedules to cultivating relationships with facilitators and promoting workshops through various channels. The coordinator's work directly contriubtes to the university's commitment to fostering student growth and development.
Responsibilities:
- Communication: Maintain the professional development email account, promptly responding to inquiries from students, facilitators, and other stakeholders. Ensure all communication is clear, informative, and supportive. Send daily workshop reminder emails to both facilitators and students to ensure smooth workshop execution and maximize attendance. Promote workshops via direct emails to key stakeholders and social media posts.
- Learning Management System (LMS) Management: Build and manage workshops within the university's LMS (Brightspace), including content creation, resource organization, and technical support for students and facilitators.
- Facilitator Management: Identify and recruit workshop facilitators who are subject-matter experts and can effectively engage students. Foster positive relationships with facilitators through regular communication, yearly thank-you notes, and semesterly surveys to improve workshop quality.
- Online Presence: Maintain workshop webpages, ensuring they are up to date with accurate information about upcoming workshops, facilitators, and registration details. Regularly update and optimize online content to enhance the user experience.
- Reporting: Run attendance reports for semesterly workshops to assess engagement and inform continuous improvement efforts. Review survey data from workshops conducted on the GSMU platform, extracting valuable insights to inform future programming decisions and improvements.
- Event Participation: Attend in-person workshops, events, and promotional meetings as required, representing the professional development program and actively seeking opportunities for growth and collaboration.

- Bachelor's degree
- Ability to identify problems, analyze information, determine, and implement solutions on own initiative
- Ability to use independent judgment
- Strong planning, organizational and analytical skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task effectively
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize work to meet deadlines, and to produce high quality work with frequent interruptions
