Department of Psychological Sciences Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Position in Clinical Psychology

Purdue University’s Department of Psychological Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Clinical Psychology to begin in the Fall of 2020. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a program of nationally recognized research and teach undergraduate and graduate level courses. Qualifications:

The candidate must have a Ph.D. in clinical psychology or a related field (e.g., Health or School Psychology) by the position start date, a strong publication record, a research program with a high likelihood of obtaining external funding, and the ability to contribute to the practical training of clinical psychology graduate students. The Clinical Psychology Program at Purdue University is a clinical science program, and candidates must have a training background relevant to the integration of clinical science and practice. We are especially interested in a faculty member with a research emphasis that either fills gaps not covered by existing faculty or will complement existing strengths in the areas of clinical assessment, personality, experimental methods, and quantitative methods. Examples of complementary areas of focus include, but are not limited to, lifespan developmental processes, intervention science, the neuroscience of clinical phenomena, and mental health disparities. Candidates should exhibit a commitment to diversity in their research, teaching, or service, and the potential to recruit, mentor, and educate students from diverse backgrounds.

The Program

The Clinical Psychology Program at Purdue University was among the very first wave of programs to be accredited by the American Psychological Association in 1948 and has been continuously accredited by APA ever since. In line with its clinical science training model, the program was also recently accredited by the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS). The Clinical Psychology Faculty actively contribute to departmental bridge topics that transcend training areas, including research strengths in the areas of Diversity & Inclusion, Maladaptive Behavior, Individual Differences, and Social Relationships.

The College & University:

The Department of Psychological Sciences is part of the College of Health and Human Sciences, which also includes Departments of Human Development and Family Studies; Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences; Public Health; and Nursing, among others. The Psychological Sciences faculty have strong connections with several college-wide initiatives, including the Center for Research on Brain, Behavior, and NeuroRehabilitation (CEREBBRAL), the Life Science MRI Facility, and the Purdue Acceptance and Inclusion Consortium. There is also the opportunity to interface with several university-wide initiatives, including the Purdue Autism Research Center (PARC), the Purdue Institute for Integrative Neuroscience (PIIN), and the Center on Aging and the Life Course (CALC).
