Intercultural Learning Specialist

 CILMAR's mission is to promote and facilitate intercultural learning at Purdue and beyond by mentoring intercultural leaders, supporting innovative scholarship, and encouraging best practices in teaching and learning.  We use project management and a train-the-trainer model to address the intercultural learning needs of a large, highly internationalized land grant university.  We are open to hiring at either the Specialist or Senior Specialist level.  Our new team member needs a theory-based understanding of intercultural communication and/or equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in higher education; experience with designing, facilitating, and debriefing experiential intercultural and/or EDI learning opportunities and the ability to mentor others as teachers.  The position will focus facilitating professional development that prepares staff to embed learning in co-curricular areas such as residence life student success, student services, etc.  To be considered for the Senor Specialist level, the candidate will have a well-developed, theory-based background and extensive experience with managing multiple complex and large-scale projects and with building and leading programs.  As with all CILMAR team members, this position involves mentoring others and supporting learning innovations in various programs as well as disseminating information about CILMAR's work in and beyond Purdue.

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Two or more years of experience at the Specialist level (P2) with additional experience preferred
  • Three or more years of experience at the Senior Specialist level (P3) with 5-10 years of experience preferred.
  • Experience needed includes designing learning experience, teaching, mentoring and managing projects independently without close supervision
  • Documented educational leadership within the context of intercultural, EDI or international/global education

PREFERRED:

  • Experience mentoring students, conducting professional development programs for faculty/staff in a university setting
  • Experience assessing learning outcomes, conducting needs analyses, managing data and relating in a community or organization from a non-majority perspective
