Project Coordinator (CAPSIS)

Job Summary

The CAPSIS (Cooperative Agricultural Pest Survey) Coordinator is a competent and productive professional contributor who works closely with USDA personnel along with the development team at CERIS (Center for Environmental and Regulatory Information Systems) to ensure that items on the cooperative agreement are completed in a timely manner. The coordinator will have the opportunity to take the lead on customer support and effectively communicate changes to both end users and stakeholders. Additionally, the coordinator is responsible for conducting end user training both virtually and in person. 


  • Take the lead on and addresses all user support issues
  • Work closely with development team to ensure workplan items are being addressed; including heavy involvement in establishing and executing strategic initiatives
  • Work closely with PI to create and execute project scope, deliverables and timeline
  • Create status reports and other documentation as required
  • Uses findings to make minor adjustments to processes and timeline to improve effectiveness and timeliness as necessary
  • The center follows the Agile mindset and team members participate in regularly scheduled meetings with other team members
  • Host and play an active role in monthly meetings with stakeholders on the agreement
  • Attend all plant board meetings (regional and national) as well as the National CAPS Committee meeting


  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Biology, Agronomy, Plant Pathology, Botany, Chemistry, or related field
  • 2 years of project coordination or related experience
  • Ability to work independently on time-critical projects
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • Strong communication skills – written and verbal



  • Previous experience with CAPSIS systems
