Job Description: This position is open to any student who has the experience and knowledge to be a Photographer/Videographer. The primary role of the SAO – Purdue Student Union Board Content Support position includes, but is not limited to: photograph events, which are then edited for marketing use, videos for pre- or post-event publicity, content for donors, and other photo/video needs for SAO or PSUB. 

The goal of this position is to give students valuable real-world experience in a marketing and programming environment. This position should work 10-15 hours per week during the current semester. Those hours may be worked in any combination, at the discretion of the direct supervisor. The SAO – Purdue Student Union Board Content Creator position must be reliable, organized, responsible, and flexible. They must also be ambitious, detail-oriented, creative, and driven. They must be able to work with others and provide clients with feedback, operate with integrity, and follow all assignments through to completion. 

 

Position Responsibilities

•    Exhibit friendliness, diplomacy, and tact 
•    Handle emergency situations and prioritize responsibilities while continuing to provide the highest level of service
•    Maintain confidentiality and exhibit professional conduct when handling sensitive information 
•    Serve and participate on committees within the division to provide feedback from a student lens
•    Present ideas to division senior leadership as identified
•    Responsible for all scheduled shifts (based on class/exam schedules for the semester)
•    Other duties as assigned

 

Required hours may include days, evenings, weekends, overnight hours, and holidays

Prerequisite(s)

The ideal candidate will have graphic design or photography and videography experience and will have taken related courses; be knowledgeable in Adobe Creative Suites (Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator); be familiar with Mac OS; and have attention to detail and editing skills. Candidate should supply their own camera. 

Qualifications

•    High school diploma or equivalent and minimum of one semester of college coursework successfully completed
•    Must be actively enrolled at Purdue University, Purdue Global
•    Enrolled in/or completion of graphic design or related courses 
•    Previous experience with graphic design or photography/videography
•    Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
•    Flexible and dependable with a strong attention to detail
•    Problem solving, logic and reasoning skills
•    Customer service oriented
•    Ability to multi-task and work within deadlines
•    Ability to work independently and with a team
•    Be timely and organized
