Radiation Therapist

Job Summary

The Radiation Therapist will provide patient-centered clinical radiation therapy for client-owned pets with cancer (primarily dogs and cats). Operate the linear accelerator and work closely with the on-site Radiation Oncologist, Radiation Oncology residents, and Registered Veterinary Technicians on the team to participate in administering the Radiation Oncology department schedule, provide state of the art radiation therapy (IMRT, SRT), ensure patient safety and maximize team efficiency.  Be responsible for quality control, quality assurance, preventive maintenance, compliance with NRC, ISDH, OSHA, and university regulatory and safety standards, and validation studies for the linear accelerator. CT simulation, localization, patient assessment and setup, radiation protection, and safety are all expected duties for this position. Assist to provide clinical instruction to veterinary students, veterinary nursing students, and veterinary residents and interns rotating through the Radiation Oncology service.

S3 requirements:

  • Associate's degree from ARRT Accredited Program
  • Licensed through Indiana State Department of Health

 

S4 requirements:

  • Associate's degree from ARRT Accredited Program
  • Licensed through Indiana State Department of Health
  • 3 years of experience delivering radiation therapy

 

Required:

  • Ability to work under pressure in emergency situations
  • Good oral/written communication skills; ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to handle the physical and emotional aspects of work in a hospital environment
  • Ability to lift and carry 25-50 pound frequently and 60 pounds occasionally

 

Additional Information:

  • Monday - Friday day shift; no on-call
