Job Description
The primary role of the Boiler Pickleball Camp (BPC) Counselor - Student Service position is responsible for the safety and well-being of campers during camp operational hours. This multi-day athletic camp is built on four pillars: safety, community, fun, and athletic growth. The goal of this position is to give students valuable real-world experience in a professional environment while developing the athletic and teamwork skills of the camper through various pickleball activities. This position will work 35-39 hours per week during the month of June 2026. Those hours may be worked in any combination, at the discretion of the direct supervisor. A BPC Counselor position must be reliable, organized, responsible, and flexible. They must also be ambitious, detail-oriented, creative, and driven.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent and minimum of one semester of college coursework successfully completed
- Previous work experience within camps, or working with children preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Flexible and dependable with a strong attention to detail
- Problem solving, logic and reasoning skills
- Customer service oriented
- Ability to multi-task and work within deadlines
- Ability to work independently and with a team
- Be timely and organized
Position Responsibilities
Position Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of camp and serve as a direct extension of the Camp Director
- Plan and implement the full summer program, including staff training week, weekly themes, daily activities, and the overall structure and flow of camp
- Provide leadership and act as a role model for both Head Counselors and Counselors
- Develop staff schedules, coordinate and organize camp activities, respond to questions and concerns, resolve conflicts, and manage behavior challenges with campers
- Lead weekly staff meetings and take charge of planning and executing events.
- Supervise camper drop-off and pick-up procedures and provide support by stepping in for counselors when needed
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Camp Director
