The primary role of the Alienware Purdue Gaming Lab Specialist position is responsible for operating the daily functions of the Alienware Purdue Gaming Lab (APGL). They must be knowledgeable of all policies and procedures within the workstations and within the lab. They demonstrate what it means to be proactive and attentive to facility and patron needs, while providing and maintaining the highest level of customer service. The goal of this position is to give students valuable real-world experience in a supportive environment. The APGL Specialist position should work at least 8 hours per week during the semester. Those hours may be worked in any combination, at the discretion of the direct supervisor. The APGL Specialist position must be reliable, organized, responsible, and flexible. They must also be ambitious, detail-oriented, creative, and driven.
Position Responsibilities
Work effectively and collaborate with co-workers to serve patron needs
Ensure all APGL policies and procedures are enforced
Learn and use the current software systems, Fusion & GG
Demonstrate proficiency in the day-to-day operations of the Check-in desk including selling memberships, directing merchandise sales, and providing exemplary customer service to members and guests
Maintain a safe environment by actively controlling access of the APGL and verifying member status for facility use
Have basic knowledge and understanding of all Emergency Action Plan scenarios
Other duties as assigned
Prerequisite(s)
Foundational understanding of gaming and/or esports to troubleshoot issues and connect with members
Punctuality and ability to attend mandatory meetings/trainings
Qualifications
Must be actively enrolled at Purdue University or Purdue Global
Ability to maintain confidential information
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
Flexible and dependable with a strong attention to detail
Problem solving, logic and reasoning skills
Customer service oriented
Ability to multi-task and work within deadlines
