Job Summary

The Registered Dietitian, embedded within RecWell Wellness Services, will apply specialized clinical expertise to elevate Purdue’s Nutrition Education Programs, directly supporting the university’s commitment to student success and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation. The dietitian will design, implement, and oversee evidence-based nutrition initiatives that align with Wellness Services’ mission and priorities, while building strong relationships across campus and with community partners. A key responsibility of this role is to oversee and manage all aspects of the demonstration kitchen program, including scheduling regular programs, hiring, training, and supervising part-time student cooking instructors, working collaboratively with division and university colleagues to deliver programs for youth, families, and special events, and managing the demonstration kitchen budget.

 

Additionally, the dietitian will supervise, train, and evaluate a team of undergraduate nutrition coaches, providing instruction in motivational interviewing, general nutrition guidelines, and rapport-building skills. This position ensures that student employees make proper and timely referrals when necessary. The role also includes tracking program revenue, managing equipment purchases, maintaining inventory, and ensuring compliance with all PUSH policies and procedures. Some evening and weekend work may be required to best serve the needs of students and the broader university community.

What We Are Looking For

Education and Experience:

 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in areas such as dietetics, food and nutrition, health promotion, or related fields.
  • Registered dietician credentials and continuing education through AND (Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics).
  • Four (4) years of relevant experience in therapeutic and clinical nutrition counseling and education for individuals and groups or similar experiences. (Can consider direct graduate experience).

 

Preferred:

  • Experience with college students and sports nutrition

Required:

  • Ability to independently manage all aspects of comprehensive diet, nutrition, and counseling program.
  • Must display ability to establish long and short term goals consistent with the mission of the university and the division.
  • Ability to design and manage nutrition counseling and education programs to meet the needs of a large, multi-dimensional department.
  • Must show ability to build, develop, and cultivate relationships across campus with a variety of constituents.
  • Successful candidate will be self-motivated, energetic, service-minded and adept at solving problems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse constituents.
  • Must possess strong communication (written/oral) as well as interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient with computer software (word processing, spreadsheet, electronic communication, etc.)
