Job Summary

The Research Associate will be in the laboratory of Dr. Daniel Flaherty in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology. As the Research Associate, you will apply the necessary knowledge and skills in molecular biology, protein expression/purification and structural biology to solve the structure of a high-impact anti-malarial drug target. In this position, you will be expected to independently prepare and purify proteins from both bacterial and yeast expression systems, maintain cell stocks and DNA plasmids, characterize proteins using biophysical techniques including X-ray crystallography and/or Cryo-electron microscopy. In addition, you will be expected to learn new necessary skills to complete the research projects. Also, you will assist the PI managing laboratory inventory, ordering equipment and supplies, managing laboratory stocks of reagents and consumables, and assisting lab members with experiments.

What We're Looking For:

Education and Experience:

• Master’s degree in biochemistry, Molecular biology, or a related field of study 
• At least one (1) year of post-graduate experience

Preferred:

• PhD Degree in Biochemistry/Structural Biology or comparable field
