Job Summary

This position involves research at the intersection of fabrication hands-on work, materials, manufacturing processes, characterization techniques, and interest in AI/ML. Strong knowledge of equipment fabrication, electronics manufacturing processes, materials science, semiconductor device fabrication, data analysis, and analyzing processes is essential, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, results-driven team.

This is a limited duration position with an expiration date of 2028. Continuation is dependent upon additional grant funding.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Engage in individual and team-based semiconductor and electronic manufacturing research projects
  • Design and develop equipment and processes, as they relate to device fabrication
  • Plan and execute experiments involving materials, perform equipment/device characterization and analysis, and prepare detailed technical reports
  • Interact with academic, governmental, and industrial partners

What We're Looking For:

Education and Experience
Qualified candidates will need:

  • BS or M.S. in electronics materials and manufacturing and characterization
  • Two (2) years of experience in electronics fabrication research and manufacturing systems
  • A background in electronics and semiconductor manufacturing, material characterization, and deposition techniques
  • Hands-on experience with robotic and fabrication equipment, testing, and operation
  • Knowledge of semiconductor devices and engineering
  • Proficiency in analytical techniques such as optical microscopy SEM, Raman spectroscopy, XPS, XRD, and other related methods
     

Skills needed:

  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and project-planning abilities
  • Practical communication skills, including technical writing and presentations
  • Strong attention to safety, urgency, and professionalism in a research setting

 

Nice to have

  • Hands-on fabrication experience
  • Some exposure and experience with cleanroom operations
  • Masters with 2+ years of research experience in a relevant field and direct experience in electronics materials, manufacturing, design, and fabrication
  • Interest in space science
