Research Technician
Job Summary
The College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking an enthusiastic and talented research technician to support the research mission within the Comparative Pathobiology Department.
The successful candidate will be responsible for achieving day-to-day objectives under moderate supervision directly impacting the area. Work consists of tasks that are typically routine with some deviation from standard practice_ Problems and issues faced are routine, but solutions are frequently not clearly prescribed. May require interpretation of procedures or policies to resolve problems. Check and make minor adjustments to work methods to solve problems that are routine. Highlight areas of concern and: put forth solutions to the supervisor_ Communicate with contacts typically within the department which require some explanation or interpretation. Provide guidance to new or entry-level employees. Requires operational knowledge of systems and procedures. Support researchers in conducting laboratory or field experiments to produce reliable and precise data to support scientific investigations. May collect and prepare specimens and samples, prepare culture media, work with study subjects, or run standard experiments. Record accurate experimental data and observations. Provide basic assistance to researchers in manipulating, computing, and analyzing data. Follow and enforce Lab or field safety protocols and cleaning procedures.
