Job Summary

The Residential Education Coordinator (REC) is a full-time professional, live-on position within University Residences with a 12-month apartment and board plan. The REC is responsible for developing strong, inclusive residential communities with a curricular focus. This position will form relationships with individual students, faculty, and staff, including coaching and supervising student staff and mentoring graduate students. Responsible for leading residence operations in a way that creates and maintains a positive, intercultural, learner-centered community. The REC will promote, encourage, and reward student learning, academic success, and co-curricular participation. Responsible for fostering an atmosphere of respect for individual differences and community values and advising and supporting student groups.  The REC will facilitate and develop a nurturing residential community, responding to sensitive issues and fostering a supporting environment for a highly diverse population.

 

What We’re Looking For: 

  • Bachelor degree
  • 0-1 year of experience 
  • One year professional work experience. 
  • Ability to support a culture of professionalism in alignment with unit values 
  • Skills in decision making/problems solving, continuous improvement/change management, strategic thinking, financial management, and drive for results.
  • Skills in supervision, leading others and promoting teamwork in daily work activity. 
  • Ability to work and thrive under limited supervision.
  • Must have the ability to understand and interpret related local, state, and federal regulations, guidelines, codes and laws.
  • Customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from different viewpoints and backgrounds.
  • Desire to increase knowledge and skills through on-going development activities.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • A valid US or Canadian Driver's License.
