Senior Administrative Assistant

Job Summary

Provide administrative support to the five (5) Purdue Engineering Initiatives (PEI) research teams within the College of Engineering. This individual will interface with the research teams and others internally, including the Dean’s Office, advisory boards and faculty councils; responsible for creating, organizing and managing documents and emails, scheduling appointments, maintaining PEIs’ events calendars, creating PowerPoint presentations, scheduling meetings, and preparing meeting agendas and minutes; plan conferences and symposiums, managing all aspects of the events. Additionally, this position is responsible for coordinating the research teams’ digital marketing and communication needs with college’s marketing and communications department.                  

 

Required:

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Four (4) years of administrative assistant experience
  • Experience developing informational messages
  • Experience coordinating large events and/or projects
  • Demonstrated experience with and willingness to learn new technologies
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively support the department
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Highly motivated, pro-active, and a team player
  • Proofreading, editing, planning, organizing, and customer service skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion


 

Preferred:

  • Experience in higher education, especially research
  • Experience interfacing with advisory boards or external stakeholders
