Senior Business Assistant

Job Summary

Purdue University and the College of Veterinary Medicine are looking for someone with the ability to conceptualize, work independently, and follow through on assignments with minimal direction to become its next Senior Business Assistant. As the Business Assistant, you will provide senior support for the daily business office functions of the Basic Medical Sciences (BMS) & Medical Education (IUSM) Business Office the Business Manager.  Responsible for the general administration of the business functions of the department and acting as the resource/liaison person for both the department and central offices. Prepare financial reports and be responsible for account management.  Functions as main contact for the BMS and IUSM departments. Audit financial transactions and correct discrepancies.  Provide proper interpretation of University, federal, and state policies to staff.

  • High School diploma/GED 
  • 4 years of University clerk or bookkeeping experience
  • Personal computer and related software skills, e.g., word-processing, spreadsheets, database, internet, etc.
  • Ability to identify problems, analyze information, determine, and implement solutions
  • Ability to use independent judgment in the interpretation of policies and procedures
  • Ability to perform effectively under conditions of fluctuating workload
  • Ability to compile/analyze data and make recommendations
  • Excellent communication (verbal/written), planning, problem-solving, organizational, and customer service skills
  • Must be teamwork-oriented to successfully interact and succeed with others
  • Must possess a learning orientation to changing technology influencing business processes
