Job Summary
As an Associate Custodian (Weekend), you will:
- Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment in University facilities.
- Learn to provide custodial services for the University in areas such as: classrooms, offices, research labs, and public spaces.
- Develop relationships with building occupants and respond to requests.
- Provide building access by locking and unlocking areas as scheduled by the department.
- Perform grounds-keeping, snow removal and other miscellaneous tasks as assigned
- Required to respond to campus crises situations to enhance public safety and minimize infrastructure damage
- Contribute to Purdue's $600 million research enterprise by ensuring a pristine environment conducive to innovation and discovery.

DAYS/HOURS: Tuesday through Friday, 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm & Saturday, 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm
Hourly Rate: $17.50 plus $0.45 shift differential for a total of $17.95 per hour
What We Are Looking For:
Required:
- Eighteen months of custodial experience with three years total work experience
- Must have completed Building Services Custodial Development Program, or be enrolled in program within 90 days of hire
- Ability to supervise and train small (3 – 10) groups
- Ability to read, write and speak English; must be able to communicate effectively with supervisor, co-workers, and customers both verbally and in writing
- Ability to read, write and perform basic mathematics and effectively communicate via a computer
- Good work organization ability
- Knowledge of policies and procedures regarding building maintenance and security
- Working knowledge of power and non-powered floor care equipment
- Personal protective equipment will be required during specific work duties as determined by the department
- Ability to lift and carry 25-50 lbs. frequently, and up to 60 lbs. occasionally required
- Ability to work efficiently and professionally in a fast paced and diverse team setting
- Will work outdoors 10% of the time in temperatures below 32 degrees or above 90 degrees
- A valid US or Canadian driver's license
Preferred:
- High school diploma/GED
- One year of supervision experience
- Knowledge of campus buildings and locations
