Senior Marketing Strategist

Job Summary

As part of the Student Life Marketing team, the Senior Marketing Strategist works collaboratively with the Director of Student Life Marketing and SL departments to strategize and plan marketing initiatives for the various areas within SL. The senior marketing strategist will work collaboratively with SL specified departments to develop marketing initiatives that help promote business, are brand-consistent and on-strategy for University Housing and Dining & Culinary. 


As the Senior Marketing Strategist, you will; work to achieve day-to-day objectives with significant impact on operational results within area of specialization. May manage projects or processes which are often difficult and complex. Problems are unclear and may require understanding of a broad set of issues, areas or specialties. Make moderate to significant improvements of processes, systems or products to enhance performance of area. Communicate with parties within the university and may have contact with external parties. Work to influence parties at an operational level regarding policies, practices and procedures.



  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalist, graphic design or related field.
  • Five years of professional experience in communication, marketing, writing and/or graphic design.
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS) and social media platforms.
  • Experience with research methods using data analytics software.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Adaptability to quickly adapt to changing marketing trends in the higher education and hospitality industry.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to think and communicate clearly.
  • Demonstrated ability to formulate a clear point of view on complicated issues and exercise high judgement in narrow time-frames.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to accomplish work that communicates/markets effectively.
  • Possess strong presentation skills to communicate ideas to existing clients.
  • Ability to problem solve using keen instincts and organizational experience.
  • Strong people skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of industry and best practices.
  • Thorough understanding of content strategy, development and execution.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of digital/print production.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from different viewpoints and backgrounds utilizing SLISU and teamwork in daily work activity.



  • Experience in higher education, hospitality, and dining.

  • This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • A Background Check will be required for employment in this position.
  • FLSA:  Exempt (Not Eligible for Overtime).
