Job Summary

The Senior Subaward Officer serves as the lead team member of the Sponsored Program Services (SPS) Subawards team, which is responsible for the processing, negotiation, issuance and tracking of subawards for externally funded grants and contracts from federal and non-federal sponsors. 

The Senior Subaward Officer is responsible for preparing and issuing outgoing subawards, including modifications to active subawards, on behalf of Sponsored Program Services (SPS).  The Senior Subaward Office will work directly with Investigators, Department Administrators, external collaborators, and SPS Pre-/Post Award Staff to manage, develop and issue subawards as well as assist with post-award activities related to subawards.

What We're Looking For:

REVISED

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM, Business Administration, Public Administration, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Management, Law, Social Sciences, or a related field
  • Six or more years of experience in regulatory compliance, contract negotiation, research management, legal or a related field
  • Experience in a higher education environment
  • Experience with FDP Subaward Templates, human subjects data transfer and use terms, and federal subrecipient monitoring requirements
  • Demonstrated proficiency in verbal and written communication skills and reading comprehension along with ability to succeed in a high-volume, high-pressure, fast-paced environment to manage and prioritize a large task list with deadlines, interruptions, and competing priorities
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Demonstrated time management, critical thinking, organizational and customer service skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships along with ability to complete tasks independently as contributions to a team effort
  • Demonstrated self-discipline and sound independent judgment completing time-sensitive assignments
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint)
  • A working knowledge of Uniform Guidance Regulations and the Federal Acquisition Regulations
  • Advanced knowledge and familiarity with subcontracting principles and procedures
