Senior Web Developer

Job Summary

Coordinate the design and development of interactive, multifunction websites and create mobile friendly electronic materials for the College of Veterinary Medicine and its departments and units, as part of the PVM Communications Team. Utilize web development guidelines (WCAG) to create functional and easily maintainable websites and associated digital and multimedia communications in compliance with ADA standards. Manage and maintain the college’s Content Management System and implement the design of eye-catching, engaging, and interactive electronic materials. Track and respond to website utilization through web traffic analysis. Lead and train a team of Web Content Contributors made up of departmental and unit staff representatives and act as an effective liaison between students, faculty, staff, and departments. Assist in managing social media presence. Must be able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment focused on rapid, high quality product development and high-end customer service. This position reports to the Director of Web Communications.

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Graphics Technology, Educational Technology, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent combination of education & experience.
  • 4 years of experience in Web Development and Communications
  • Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required experience
  • Knowledge of back-end web development
  • Knowledge of content management systems such as Drupal, Hannon Hill Cascade, WordPress, or equivalent
  • Knowledge of the following areas: development for cross-platform browsers, tablets, and mobile devices, PHP, HTML, CSS, HTML5, CSS3
  • Knowledge of the following areas: Content Management Systems such as Hannon Hill Cascade, Drupal, or comparable, databases such as MS SQL and MySQL, Microsoft SharePoint, JQuery & JavaScript Frameworks, multimedia asset creation & editing, and Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have working knowledge of content management and collaborative tools for developing and maintaining web content
  • Capable of quickly learning and acquiring skills for new web-related technologies and concepts

 

Preferred:

  • Experience in training individuals and teams in web content contribution
  • Experience in content creation in accordance with federal web accessibility guidelines
  • Familiarity with the following areas: Bootstrap Framework, XML, XSLT, Velocity, Google Analytics, Unix-Like operating system environments, Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) web standards and Section 508 of the Americans with Disability Act web accessibility guidelines, Email Marketing systems and practices, Social Media marketing & community management, and Adobe Photoshop, Fireworks, or other image editing software
