Service Maintenance Worker, FEM

In this position, you will;  respond to commercial food service equipment service calls and work orders from Purdue Dining or other departments. Troubleshoot to diagnose problems and determine method/options of repair. Determine job priorities, estimate time and material to complete jobs. Ensure compliance with electrical and plumbing codes. Supervise others as needed. Serve as back up to inventory, order and receive parts and supplies using a computerized maintenance management software.


  • High school diploma/GED
  • Three years of general maintenance experience
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and intercultural relations skills
  • Excellent decision making skills and ability to be dependable
  • Proficiency in plumbing, electricity and carpentry
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and perform basic math functions
  • Lift and move up to 75 lbs., climb ladders, and stand, walk or stoop extensively
  • Working knowledge of basic personal computer functions
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from different viewpoints and backgrounds utilizing teamwork in daily work activity



  • Refrigeration certification
  • Commercial kitchen equipment maintenance experience
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Familiarity with University policies regarding building maintenance and security
  • Mechanical aptitude and leadership skills


Additional Information:

  • Subject to 24-hour, 7-day a week call back. Some overtime required. May work weekends on occasion.
