The Maintenance Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and operational functions of Purdue University’s flight training aircraft and facilities. This role ensures all work adheres to FAA regulations, University safety standards, and industry best practices while maintaining compliance with federal regulatory requirements. Key responsibilities include managing the maintenance program, supervising technicians and student employees, providing guidance on aircraft development and maintenance, and recommending upgrades to meet academic and industrial standards.
Under the guidance of the supervisor, this position will direct aircraft maintenance and repair operations, instruct aviation maintenance students, and submit required reports to the FAA. The role also serves as a primary point of contact for FAA inspections and ensures proper onboarding and training for team members.
As an FAA-certified airframe and powerplant mechanic with Inspection Authorization (IA), this position performs aircraft maintenance, required inspections, and ancillary functions such as towing, fueling, cleaning, and deicing aircraft. Additionally, the role assists with recordkeeping for FAA regulations, service bulletins, manuals, and maintains ground support equipment and facilities.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and operational excellence of Purdue’s aircraft fleet while supporting the academic mission of the School of Aviation & Transportation Technology.

What We Are Looking For :
Education and Experience
Qualified candidates will need:
- HS Diploma / GED.
- Four (4) years of experience in aviation maintenance required.
Skills needed:
- Federal Aviation Administration Aviation Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant Ratings.
- Inspection Authorization (IA)
- Computer literacy with MS office products. Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
- Valid Driver’s License.
