Special Events and Stakeholder Relations Specialist

Job Summary

 

Purdue’s Military Family Research Institute, part of the College of Health and Human Sciences, pairs research with outreach to help improve the quality of life for service members, veterans and their families. MFRI is seeking a collaborative, versatile and self-directed event planner to help advance the institute’s mission and cultivate its reputation regionally and nationwide. 

 

Under the direction of the external relations manager, and in collaboration with other institute members, the individual will plan and execute events, manage meetings, oversee meeting and conferencing technology needs for the institute, manage relationships with event-related vendors and consultants, and steward stakeholder relationships. 


P1 requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, hospitality management, management, communications, or related field. 
  • Minimum of one year of experience in event planning.  

 

P2 requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, hospitality management, management, communications, or related field. 
  • Minimum of three years of experience in event planning.                  
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision


 

Additional requirements:

  • Ability to prioritize workloads to meet deadlines
  • Ability to support multiple clients simultaneously
  • Ability to coordinate and track details of multiple projects simultaneously
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with outside vendors
  • Detail-oriented
  • Organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work with diverse clientele and represent the University with tact and diplomacy
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
  • Knowledge of various meeting technology platforms, such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, WebEx and Whova
  • Experience with fundraising events 
  • Experience with donor relations
