Job Summary
Assist in the management of food-related purchasing, supply chain management, and contracting within the Purdue Dining & Culinary department. Manage supplier and operator relationships, arrange agreements to leverage purchasing volume, and rationalize the supplier base and inventory to an optimum level.
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Food Science, Food Service Management or related field.
- Two years of procurement experience, or business administration involving procurement functions
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Possess high-integrity, excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal and intercultural relations, conflict resolution, customer-driven focus, analytical skills, organizational skills, and strong decision making.
- Must be able to demonstrate success in process review and improvement: challenging the status quo and champion change.
- Must have negotiation and supplier management experience or aptitude
- Proven ordering and inventory management skills.
- Ability to use business knowledge, innovative thinking and sound judgment to effectively resolve problems.
- Exhibit strong procurement life-cycle, process management and project management skills
- Ability to recognize trends and execute adjustments with internal and external partners, capitalizing on both strategic and tactical opportunities.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and Power Point.
- Must have an understanding of Supply Management, Strategic Sourcing principles and contract laws.
- ServSafe certification or ability to become certified within first year of employment.
- Ability to lift 50# and work in a below-freezing environment for inventory purposes.
