Student Developer for Purdue Broadband Team Project
We are currently seeking enthusiastic, detail-oriented student developers to assist in a Rural Broadband Project. The successful candidates will be responsible for the development of a comprehensive program for systematic investigation of Internet plans across different geographical areas. The program should autonomously execute a step-by-step process from data generation to analysis. For example,
- Pick a geographical area and a target
- Generate a set of random addresses within the selected area
- Systematically capture, organize, and format this data into a structured tabular file
- Extract internet plan data from various sources
- Analyze the resulting data, and generate statistical charts to visually represent findings
Required Skills
- Proficiency in managing tabular files (.csv, .xls), preferably with experience using libraries such as pandas.
- Demonstrated ability to write web crawlers/scrapers.
- Experience with multithreading/multiprocessing programming.
- Strong skills in analyzing tabular data, preferably with experience using libraries such as sklearn.
- Ability to generate statistic charts using libraries such as matplotlib and seaborn.
Qualifications
- Current student in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
