Job Summary

 

The Student Success Specialist designs, launches, and manages student-facing support initiatives within the academic unit, with a focus on recruiting, retention, diversity, inclusion, mentoring, first-year experience, learning communities, co-curricular engagement, summer opportunities, student awards, and scholarships. The role strengthens and complements the work of university-wide student success offices by making timely referrals and connecting students to centralized resources and services. In collaboration with university and college admissions teams, this position leads the development and implementation of student recruitment activities for the academic unit and coordinates programs that foster and sustain a culture of student diversity and inclusivity.

What We Are Looking For :

Education and Experience

Qualified candidates will need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Education, or related field.
  • Minimum 4-5 years of prior experience related to student services, education, or similar field.

 

Skills needed:

  • Strong initiative with an ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Familiarity with higher education student success issues and programs, student retention tools, and academic and co-curricular activities. 
  • Ability to manage projects and processes involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to relate well to students, develop rapport, trust, and work within a shared decision-making model with the students
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from different viewpoints and backgrounds and teamwork in daily work activity
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and implement university policies and procedures
  • Excellent time management, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Must represent the university with professionalism, tact, and diplomacy at all levels.
  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours and travel, as business need dictates

The anticipated annual salary for this position is between $48,8000 to $57,715 commensurate with the candidate’s education and experience. The final salary offer will be determined based on a variety of factors, including equity, available budget, educational background, and relevant experience.

The School of Applied and Creative Computing (ACC) is a rapidly growing academic unit within Purdue Polytechnic Institute, focused on applied, industry-connected computing education.
