Hours/Week: Variable, minimum 10 hours up to maximum 38 hours per week; Required hours may include days, evenings and weekends
Job Description: The primary role of the Summer Student UR Conductor Tour Guide position is to conduct tours and educate guests on University Residences housing and dining locations. The goal of this position is to give students valuable, real-world experience in an office setting and a social environment. The Summer Student UR Conductor Tour Guide position should work a minimum of 10 hours per week throughout the current summer. Those hours may be worked in any combination, at the discretion of the direct supervisor. Students in the Summer Student UR Conductor Tour Guide position must be outgoing and friendly with a genuine love for Purdue University Residences. They must be able to physically and visually explore campus with guests while appropriately responding to different environments, reading body language and relaying large amounts of information accurately. When not giving tours, Summer Student UR Conductor Tour Guides will serve as hosts in the University Residences Alumni & Guest Center, attend all scheduled staff meetings and trainings, install, record and clean senior door plates located in various residence halls throughout the WL campus and complete other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in University Residences and/or Dining & Culinary processes, offerings, opportunities and culture. The ability to drive university vehicles is preferred.
Position Responsibilities: Maintain high standard of cleanliness throughout the facility; Maintain safety and risk management standards of the department; Perform daily upkeep of supplies throughout the facility; Assist the Senior Engagement Specialist with facility set up and tear down; Exhibit friendliness, diplomacy, and tact in responding to all guests needs; Handle emergency situations and prioritize responsibilities while providing the highest level of customer service; Maintain confidentiality and exhibit professional conduct when handling sensitive information; Present ideas to departmental leadership as identified; Responsible for all scheduled shifts (based on class/exam schedules for the summer); Must attend all scheduled staff meetings and training(s) to gain and/or share pertinent information; Be willing and able to drive university vehicles when necessary; Other duties as assigned
