Job Summary
The Staff Therapist role will need to bring progressive and robust generalist clinical skills/experience. They will participate in providing therapy services via a variety of modalities to Purdue students. Staff contributes to clinical service delivery through the provision of individual, couples, and group therapy; on-call services; triage; and substance use, abuse, and dependence services. Staff also provide outreach and consultation. Licensed staff provides supervision to therapists in training, as needed.
What We're Looking For
Education and Experience:
Qualified candidates will need:
- Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology and or a Masters in an related field
- Current Indiana license, or license eligible as follows:
- (1) Ph.D. or Psy.D. candidates without current Indiana license must demonstrate current eligibility to meet state HSPP licensure requirements within 18 months of hire; or
- (2) Master’s candidates without current Indiana license must demonstrate current eligibility to meet state LCSW, LMHC, LMFT or comparable license within 30-months of hire
- Candidates receiving doctoral training with ABD status will be considered
- Candidate must complete doctoral degree within 1 year of start date and obtain license following timeline stated above. Supervision will be provided for doctoral candidates considered
- A minimum of 0-2 years of relevant experience
Skills needed:
- Provision of group and individual therapy and clinical supervision. Ability to develop and teach seminars related to the provision of these skills.
- Must be licensed (eligible) in the State of Indiana. Supervision will be provided for doctoral candidates considered
- Strong generalist therapy skills
- Ability to evaluate and diagnose clients, make decisions about the urgency of clients' problems, and design and implement appropriate therapy treatment interventions foundational
- Skills and interest in outreach and consultation
- Confidentiality and adherence to ethical practices
- Independent judgment and discretion
- Must relate well to students, staff, faculty and other members of the University community
- Specific interest in one or more of the following clinical areas and communities: interest and experience serving diverse clients and communities: group therapy; substance use, abuse, and dependence issues; eating disorders
What is Helpful:
