Therapist/Counselor (College of Veterinary Medicine)

Job Summary

Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking an experienced social worker, psychologist, or Marriage and Family Therapist for a 12-month, full-time position to provide individual counseling and crisis intervention to the students in the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine, including veterinary nursing students, veterinary medical students, interns, residents and graduate students.  This individual will also provide psychoeducational outreach programs and serve as a consultant to faculty and staff of the College.

 

Required:

  • Doctorate (PhD) in clinical or counseling psychology, social work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field
  • Two years of experience providing adult clinical services
  • Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required experience (Master’s degree and 4 years of experience providing adult clinical services)
  • Must be eligible to be immediately licensed in the state of Indiana to allow independent practice
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge, sensitivity and ability to work with individuals from diverse ethnic, cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity in adhering to professional ethics

 

Preferred:

  • Experience in a university counseling center
  • Teaching experience; skill and experience in designing and delivering psychoeducational programs

 

Additional Information:

  • Standard hours are 8:00 am - 5:00 pm approximately 3 days per week and 11:00 am - 8:00 pm 2 days per week
  • Purdue will not sponsor employment authorization for this position 
  • A background check will be required for employment in this position
  • FLSA: Exempt (Not Eligible For Overtime)
  • Retirement Eligibility: Defined Contributions immediately
