Job Summary
The Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (ADDL) at Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine looking to hiring a Diagnostic Laboratory Technician to support diagnostic and research efforts. Responsibilities include performing tests to detect trace minerals and toxins in environmental, feed, and biological samples, maintaining laboratory safety and cleanliness, and following Standard Operating Protocols. The role involves analyzing data, troubleshooting results, communicating findings to clients, and assisting with specimen submissions. You’ll use the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for sample tracking, process samples, operate advanced lab instruments (e.g., chromatography, ICP/MS, AAS, ELISA), and maintain records. Additional duties include preparing reagents, managing inventories, participating in meetings and process improvement, and helping train new staff. Cross-training in other departments may be required.

The Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (ADDL) at the Purdue College of Veterinary Medicine, located in West Lafayette, IN. The ADDL is a full-service veterinary diagnostic laboratory that serves the state of Indiana by providing both routine and regulatory diagnostic services to support Indiana veterinarians, animal health officials, livestock producers and animal owners.

What We’re Looking For:
Qualified candidates will need:
- Bachelor’s degree and 6 months to a year of relevant work experience
- An Associate’s degree and two and a half to three years of relevant work experience will also be considered
Skills needed:
- Must have the ability to multitask and be flexible in order to accomplish daily tasks as needed in the section
- The right candidate will also have the ability to work independently under moderate supervision
What is helpful:
- A degree in a science-related field is preferred.
- A veterinary nursing degree may be considered.
