Job Summary

 

Undergraduate Assistant – Libraries Administration

 

The Libraries Administration offices oversee all functions of the Libraries and School of Information Studies. The West Lafayette campus includes six subject-oriented libraries, the Hicks Undergraduate Library and the Virginia Kelly Karnes Archives and Special Collections Research Center. There are nearly 150 employees of Purdue Libraries, of which 81 are faculty and professionals.

 

The undergraduate assistant (UA) will report to the Senior Operations Manager, and will provide support to Libraries Administration staff with general office work, including greeting internal and external visitors at our reception desk, preparing documents, data entry, making copies, assisting with communications, etc. In addition, the UA will assist with a variety of events on campus such as Dog Days, GIS Day, and Celebration of Books. Duties associated with these events include working a check-in table, creating name badges and table tents, assisting with event set up and tear down, and all other associated event preparation. This student will also serve as a Libraries student representative at campus events such as Introducing Purdue.

Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications: Must be a current undergraduate student

 

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Enjoy working with people

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Knowledge of and comfort with suggesting ideas and creating content for social media posts.
  • Basic knowledge of graphic design software, such as InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
