Compensation

  • $15.00/hour
  • Summer Room and Board

 

Hours/Week

  • Fall and Spring semester average, 5-10 hours per week
  • Summer average, 30-40 hours per week
  • Required hours include some weekends, nights, and/or holidays
  • Required on-call rotation
  • During the summer, this position is considered a full-time commitment
  • Start date: October 27, 2025

 

Contract Dates

  • The terms of employment are for the Fall 2025 Semester, Spring 2026 Semester, and ends August 15, 2026, or a mutually determined date
  • Mandatory training takes place for a week in May for all summer residential and dining program staff
  • Must be actively enrolled at Purdue University or another higher education institution within the United States

Job Description

This position provides the student with the ability to understand and participate in the development and execution of summer residential and dining program planning for University Residences.

This position is responsible for working with others in developing the training and implementation of student residential and dining program materials, along with preparing for the summer residential and dining program season. Developmental opportunities include but are not limited to organization, communication, professionalism, and leadership. This internship-eligible position will directly report to the Associate Director of Summer Residential and Dining Programs. 

 

Prerequisite(s)

Previous University Residences Conferences experience is preferred, but not required.

 

 

Qualifications and Responsibilities

Qualifications 

  • High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of one semester of college coursework completed
  • Must be actively enrolled at Purdue University or another higher education institution within the United States
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and work within deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Be timely and organized
  • Previous experience as a Summer Student Office Staff, Summer Student Office Coordinator, and/or Summer Program Coordinator for University Residences or equivalent preferred but not required
  • Previous supervisory/leadership experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

 

Position Responsibilities             

  • Participate in and facilitate the summer employee program training
  • Provide updates to our student program documents, including, but not limited to the following:
    • Summer Program Staff Manual – SPC, SSOC, and SSOS
    • StarRez Manual
    • All student resource documents
  • Assist/lead in scheduling for the leadership staff
  • Use of the rooming management system for all program-related activities 
  • Organize information, assess, and respond appropriately to the needs of the customer
  • Attend and take part in planning meetings
  • Oversee program check-ins and check-outs 
  • Perform additional administrative procedures 
  • Meet regularly with the supervisor
  • Be accessible in person or by phone to address questions or emergencies, including after-hours support, and complete incident reports or other appropriate documentation
  • Maintain confidentiality and exhibit professional conduct when handling sensitive or personal information
  • Exemplify promptness, initiative, adaptability, high ethical standards, professional appearance, and demeanor as part of the conference team
  • Assist in preparation for the summer program season
  • Involvement in the summer program hiring process
  • Other duties as assigned
