Veterinary Superhero League Role Model Teams Manager (Program Administrator)

Job Summary

 

The Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine (PVM) is looking for someone passionate about inspiring under-resourced children to pursue careers in veterinary medicine. Your primary role would be supporting The League of VetaHumanz (www.VetaHumanz.org), a veterinary superhero league that provides role models and veterinary lessons to help kids and their animals stay healthy with the ultimate goal of promoting a diverse and inclusive veterinary profession. We give kids a sense of belonging to the profession and help them develop the STEM skills they need to be successful. You would serve as a liaison to and assist our partners in academia, industry, government, and community organizations across the country in launching role model teams and delivering our curriculum to elementary school students. You would also help lead local delivery of the program, be part of a team creating educational resources for children, and manage other community engagement initiatives. There is no remote option for this role.

Required:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in veterinary nursing/ veterinary technology, elementary education, social work, or related field
  • Two years of experience working with, and developing educational materials for, under-resourced elementary-school-aged children or related experience
  • Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience
  • Ability to interact positively with diverse populations, thinking creatively, and working independently
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills with a variety of age groups
  • Program management experience
  • Adept at functioning independently and working in teams
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and problem solve
  • Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines
  • Attention to detail 
  • Competency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Ability to maintain timely and accurate electronic data records in Excel

 
Preferred:

 

  • Experience developing and implementing community engagement programs
  • Experience managing grants and complex processes with ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously to meet deadlines    
  • Fluency in Spanish
