Job Summary

The Purdue University Veterinary Hospital is looking for an enthusiastic credentialed veterinary technician for our Diagnostic Imaging Team. This position will work closely with radiologists and residents to provide a wide variety of imaging services to both small and large animal species including digital and mobile radiographs, nuclear bone scans, CT, MRI, and fluoroscopy. 

 

Veterinary technicians on this team will be trained to operate all of the imaging modules to support patient needs. Typical shifts are M-F with an after hours on-call rotation. 
All veterinary technicians in the hospital have the opportunity to continually learn new skills and techniques. This knowledge leads to teaching those skills to veterinary and veterinary nursing students. We are looking for someone with a solid base of organization, a desire to learn and enjoys the opportunity to teach others.

What We're Looking For:
Education and Experience:

 

  • Associate's degree from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program
  • Candidates must be registered in Indiana within twelve (12) months
     

Skills Needed:

  • Ability to work under pressure in emergency situations
  • Strong oral/written communication skills; ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to handle the physical and emotional aspects of work in a veterinary hospital environment
  • Ability to lift and carry 25-50 pounds frequently and 60 pounds occasionally
     

What is Helpful:

  • Teaching and computer experience
  • Experience in a veterinary practice or veterinary teaching hospital
  • Emergency or critical care experience
  • Experience in emergency, multispecialty veterinary hospital, or veterinary teaching hospital
  • Experience in general practice
