Veterinary Technician (Radiation Therapy)

Purdue University is expanding our Radiation Oncology team and looking to add a motivated credentialed veterinary technician! Radiation Oncology at Purdue is a busy service where the veterinary nursing team works closely with the clinicians and Radiation Therapist on diagnostics, planning, and performing treatments on patients. This position is at the forefront of advanced oncology treatment and is a great opportunity to advance your knowledge and skills.

 

As a Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Purdue staff are used to teaching and training and are willing to provide training and mentorship to the right candidate. Our ideal candidate has a good foundation in basic nursing skills and anesthesia, as well as enjoy client communication and education. Hours are weekday and daytime.

 

Purdue University, located in West Lafayette, Indiana, is a beautiful campus that supports both a College of Veterinary Medicine as well as Associate and Bachelor degree programs in Veterinary Nursing. All technicians in the teaching hospital teach and mentor students throughout the year. This posting may be filled at multiple levels (S3 or S4). The hiring manager will determine the job level based on the skills, experience, and qualifications of the selected candidate.

 

S3 requirements:
Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree from an AVMA accredited Veterinary Technology program

 

S4 requirements:
Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree from an AVMA accredited Veterinary Technology program
Two years of experience as a credentialed veterinary technician

Required:
  • Candidates must be registered in Indiana within twelve (12) months
  • Ability to work under pressure in emergency situations
  • Good oral/written communication skills; ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to handle the physical and emotional aspect of work in a veterinary hospital environment
  • Ability to lift and carry 25-50 pounds frequently and 60 pounds occasionally


Preferred:

  • Teaching and computer experience
  • Radiation therapy experience
  • Experience in emergency, multispecialty veterinary hospital or veterinary teaching hospital
  • Experience in general practice
