Job Summary
Purdue University’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital is seeking Veterinary Technicians (Small Animal Primary Care) to support clinical operations and contribute to the education of future veterinary professionals while delivering outstanding patient care.
In this role, you will assist clinicians, interns, residents, and fellow technicians in delivering high-quality clinical services across various hospital departments. You’ll play an active part in educating veterinary and technician students by demonstrating essential medical procedures and sharing your knowledge of physiology and disease processes. Additionally, you’ll support Lead Technicians in monitoring hospital inventory and supplies to ensure efficient operations. Flexibility is essential, as you may be assigned to other areas of the hospital based on need, and will participate in holiday rotations and potentially on-call coverage.

This position could be filled at multiple levels (S3 or S4). The hiring manager will determine the job level based on the skills, experience, and qualifications of the selected candidate.
What We’re Looking For:
Education and Experience
Qualified candidates will need:
- AAS in Veterinary Technology from AVMA accredited Veterinary Technology Program
- Two years in a University Veterinary Teaching Hospital or Veterinary Specialty Hospital as a credentialed veterinary technician
- May consider 10 years in a veterinary General Practice
Skills needed:
- Must become RVT in Indiana within 12 months of hire
- Able to listen to and follow both verbal and written directions
- Must possess good oral and written communication skills, with the ability to read and write in English
- Must possess a knowledge level enough to explain and demonstrate routine veterinary medical concepts and procedures to aid in instruction of veterinary students, and veterinary technology students
