Veterinary Technician (Neurology/Physical Rehabilitation)

The Purdue University Veterinary Teaching Hospital is looking for a credentialed veterinary technician to add to our Neurology and Physical Rehabilitation team. This role will work alongside specialist veterinarians, residents, interns, and students to receive appointments and emergencies needing diagnostic work-ups, follow-up care, and in hospital treatment for neurologic and other mobility related problems. Our Neurology team will also induce and monitor anesthesia for MRI and neurosurgery procedures. Your skills and knowledge as a veterinary technician will be valued and utilized within the hospital.


As a Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Purdue staff are used to teaching and training and are willing to provide training and mentorship to the right candidate. Our ideal team member has a good foundation in basic nursing skills and anesthesia and is eager to increase their knowledge in both neurology and rehabilitation therapy. Hours are weekday and daytime with rotating on-call expected.


Purdue University, located in West Lafayette, Indiana, is a beautiful campus that supports both a College of Veterinary Medicine as well as Associate and Bachelor degree programs in Veterinary Nursing. All technicians in the teaching hospital teach and mentor students throughout the year. This posting may be filled at multiple levels (S3 or S4). The hiring manager will determine the job level based on the skills, experience, and qualifications of the selected candidate.


S3 requirements:

  • Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree from an AVMA accredited Veterinary Technology program


S4 requirements:

  • Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree from an AVMA accredited Veterinary Technology program
  • Two years of experience as a credentialed veterinary technician



  • Candidates must be registered in Indiana within twelve (12) months
  • Ability to work under pressure in emergency situations
  • Good oral/written communication skills; ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to handle the physical and emotional aspect of work in a veterinary hospital environment
  • Ability to lift and carry 25-50 pounds frequently and 60 pounds occasionally
