Job Summary
As the Night Lead Custodian Crew Chief, you will:
- Ensure the cleanliness, safety and appearance of assigned buildings in accordance with established standards.
- Plan and coordinate daily work assignments to cover vacancies, provide continuous delivery of services, and ensure equitable distribution of work.
- Train, coach, support and supervise custodians in single or multiple locations.
- Interface with customers to resolve problems and complaints and respond to queries.
- Maintain an inventory of custodial tools, supplies and equipment and maintain on-site administrative records.
- Perform custodial duties to cover vacancies, absences or special requests.
- Required to respond to campus crises situations to enhance public safety and minimize infrastructure damage.
What We're Looking For:
Education and Experience
Qualified candidates will need:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 4+years of work experience, including 2 years custodial experience and 1 year of supervisory experience
Skills needed:
- Ability to functionally supervise and train moderate sized (12-18) groups
- Must complete onboarding training, or be enrolled in program, within 90 days of hire
- Ability to use and train others to use powered and non-powered custodial equipment
- Must be able to read, speak, and understand English to effectively communicate, understand others, give and direct work assignments, and communicate both verbally and in writing with customers
- Basic math skills and good work organization required
- Basic experience with computers and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) required
- Ability to maintain positive relationships that reflect positively on the department and participates in a culture of professionalism demonstrating AO values of teamwork, respect, and performance excellence
- Knowledge of polices and procedures regarding building maintenance and security required
- Knowledge of campus buildings and locations preferred
- Follow and train others to follow safety procedures; includes wearing personal protective equipment as required
- Ability to work while standing, stooping, and kneeling
- Work while reaching above the head and below the waist
- Ability to lift and carry 25 to 50 lbs. frequently, and up to 60 lbs. occasionally required
- Work outdoors 10% of the time in temperatures below 32 degrees and above 90 degrees
- Valid driver’s license required
