Job Summary
The Office of Communications within Purdue Brand Studio is seeking motivated student workers to join its strategic communications team in West Lafayette or Indianapolis. This paid position offers hands-on, real‑world experience working alongside Purdue’s media relations, executive communications, and internal communications teams.
Student workers will contribute to a wide range of projects, including writing, media monitoring and metrics reporting, video production and editing, and social media writing. This role is ideal for students interested in storytelling, news, and strategic communications in a fast‑paced, professional environment.
Student workers are expected to work 6-8 hours per week in a hybrid capacity. A fully remote option may be available during the summer. Work hours may be scheduled flexibly, in coordination with and at the discretion of the direct supervisor.
The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of Purdue University, its administration and strategic priorities and will be reliable, organized, curious, and eager to learn.
Compensation: $10/hour in year one. Compensation may increase in subsequent years based on performance and continued employment.

Education
- Must be actively enrolled at Purdue University (West Lafayette or Indianapolis)
- Must have completed two semesters of college coursework
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or closely related field
Experience
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Interest in basic video production, design, editing, photography
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Demonstrates interest in news and current events
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams)
- Active on social media, particularly LinkedIn, Reddit and YouTube
- Familiarity with Meltwater, Adobe Premiere Pro, or Sony a7S III cameras is a plus, but not required
